"OSSA has been my second home since the beginning of my tennis career. I trained at OSSA before it was 'OSSA,' and I fondly look back on the memories, establishing the name and foundation of such a great program. Players of all ages and levels are welcomed with open arms and are made to feel like a part of the OSSA family on their first day. I am extremely thankful for the depth of experience, knowledge, and commitment all of the coaches provide. They understand the game in a distinct way that is hard to come by today, which is shown by their track record of continuous development of top players. They ensure that each student gets the attention he/she deserves and work with each individual to develop his/her own unique style of play. OSSA Tennis Academy has been a testament to Vince's, Matz's and other coaches' hard work and dedication to their players, and I encourage anyone wanting to take their game to the next level to become the next member of the family."
"Peggy has truly enjoyed working with Vince. He has given her a new confidence in her game. He truly loves the game of tennis which is reflected in his commitment to Peggy's tennis in juniors and college. Having Vince coach Peggy during the US Open juniors was the highlight of the week for Peggy."
"I've had the opportunity to work with and observe many excellent coaches from the US to France, and Vince is quite simply the best coach I've ever known. His ability to communicate with and motivate junior players is uncanny, and his degree of personal care and support for his players is unparalleled. In an age when many programs prioritize smoke, mirrors and snazzy marketing, Vince, together with his outstanding partner, Matz Claesson, make OSSA the top DC-area program for players who want close personal contact with the very best coaches."
"Our two children have been training under Vince's guidance for the last 11 years at OSSA. Vince has a special ability to recognize the areas of the game that need improvement and gives clear direction on making adjustments. He uses a creative, flexible approach to finding solutions that work for each individual. He is skilled at assessing his student's needs and responding to them in a way that is suited to that individual's temperament."
"OSSA offers both competition and camaraderie. The coaches provide individual attention to your player, whether a nationally-ranked player or a high school varsity player. OSSA has been a part of our lives and the growth and success of our two boys-- as tennis players and as young men."
"Trust has been a major cornerstone of our relationship with the OSSA Tennis Academy and its coaches, Matz and Vince. We trust the coaches to bring out the best in our tennis playing son, not only in his overall tournament results, his tennis skills and acumen, but also in the development of his character. OSSA has prompted Bear's unique perseverance under extreme duress-- teaching him to believe in himself and to remain positive in circumstances that may seem daunting and, ultimately, to fight to succeed."
"Jordan came to OSSA Tennis Academy in 2016. At that time, Jordan really wanted to start playing tennis at a high level and enter more advanced Mid-Atlantic tournaments. Coach Vince and Coach Matz developed a plan that emphasized Jordan's strengths and worked diligently to improve many areas of his game and, by working intensely with the coaches, Jordan quickly climbed into the Top 10 in B16s and had tremendous success in doubles. Vince, Matz and Mateo have continued to push Jordan forward, setting high expectations of him and helping him to reach his tennis goals. With their help, Jordan has now reached the Top 100 in the country in singles and doubles in B18s and he's ranked #2 in Mid-Atlantic. Vince has also been a tremendous help in navigating the college tennis process and he's been instrumental in helping Jordan move toward his goal of playing Division I tennis. We are grateful to the entire OSSA family for their commitment to our son's future."
"Vince loves tennis. Not all coaches truly do. He hones in on a player's key development areas and then develops a plan to attack them. Over the last year, Vince's personalized attention to Trey's game has helped Trey improve markedly. We are delighted with the attention and instruction OSSA provides."
"OSSA is a special place where the kids work very hard but the environment is warm and supportive. My girls were losing the joy of the game and since coming to OSSA three years ago, it has been back in full force. Vince doesn't just tell my kids what they are doing wrong with their strokes; he works with them until they understand and feel it themselves so that it sticks and they can self correct. Mateo connects so well with both of them and gives excellent personalized feedback during clinic, despite not being their primary coach-- which is so important in a high level training program. Matz has a legacy of coaching some of the greatest players from this area and all of the kids know and respect this. This is a unique training center and, as my husband and I say often, 'OSSA has been so good to us.'"
"I took my first private lesson with Matz at the age of 8, and I have been lucky enough to continue to work with him and Vince throughout my junior, collegiate and professional tennis careers. Without a doubt, there are no coaches who care more about each individual student than Vince and Matz. No matter what the skill level, they take the time to foster relationships with and develop every player the right way without cutting corners. Under their tutelage, I have become a better and more complete person on and off the tennis court."
"Matz is truly an amazing person and an amazing coach. I thought I knew what hard work was but then I had my first lesson-- and every lesson since-- he pushed my work ethic to make sure I reached the top. He pushed me and other players to levels we didn't know we had inside of us. Because of that, it made us so mentally tough and such better tennis players. Soon after, throughout the years in high school and college, I took so much pride in telling people he was MY coach. He's not only a coach but he's a life mentor. He consistently pushes me and gives me advice on things not only about tennis, but about life-- he cares about me as a person to make sure I am happy on and off the court. He's so incredibly heart-filled and caring, and just wants the player to feel safe with him as a coach and mentor. Now, he's family to me. He's like my second dad and he's impacted my life in such a positive way."
"OSSA's ability to develop players is unlike any I've seen. The academy consistently coaches top-level players to achieve national and professional success. The coaches' knowledge and expertise of the game, strategic approach to development, and investment in the player as a person make their approach distinct. This dynamic coaching staff not only grows players at any level but people too. I improved as a tennis player and made lifelong friendships-- training at OSSA was the best decision I made for my tennis."
"Vince, Matz and the rest of the OSSA Team were instrumental in guiding my competitive tennis career. They set much of the groundwork for my success at both the high school and college level. In particular, the OSSA program was exceptionally helpful for preparing me to be a successful student-athlete. I would not have achieved the success I had without their support."
"We found the perfect tennis home for Michael at OSSA Tennis Academy. The training is serious hard work but it is a team environment and the coaches and the players support each other like family-- especially when they are all competing at the larger tournaments. Vince, Matz and Mateo worked hard with Michael so he could achieve his goal of playing college tennis. With the opportunities Vince gave Michael to train with the top players and have regular intensive fitness workouts with Harrison, Michael was able to secure a spot at his first choice school, Christopher Newport University. Michael will continue to work with the OSSA Team during his four years of college over breaks to improve his game and stay competitive. I would highly recommend OSSA for junior players at any age or skill level."
"The two coaches, Matz and Vince, represent a focused team of coaches with decades of experience. They have coached Division I college players and professional players. Whether your child is a future pro, amateur or beginner, they will tailor the tennis lesson to your player's needs and bring out their best. There are plenty of places who train top level players-- often at the expense of the lower ranked players. We never felt less than important and the attention to technique is second to none."
"When I worked with Vince, he transformed my mindset and approach at a time when I had lost confidence in myself. He taught me strategy and discipline and, through hard work and his process, he helped me believe in myself and take my game to the next level. I can't speak highly enough of his coaching ability."
"Vince has been my main coach at OSSA throughout my career and I can't express how much he positively impacted not only my tennis but also my life. He pushes his players hard but only because he knows what they are capable of more than they know themselves. He provides crucial insights to the game and generates a goal-oriented path that caters to each player. I owe much of my tennis experience to Vince and I am grateful for his expertise and, more importantly, his friendship."
"Matz is a master of the biomechanics of tennis and that's why his students have such solid technique. He really gets to know his players as individuals and has developed a strong bond with many of them. This helps him connect with his students in a way that few coaches can."
"OSSA Tennis Academy uniquely focuses on the whole player, body and mind. An athlete may exhibit excellent form but, unless he/she has the right mental focus and attitude, he/she may struggle to be successful. Vince and the OSSA coaches work on all aspects of an athlete's game, technique and the mental aspects of tennis every day. OSSA prepares its tennis players to handle all of the game's mental challenges and be successful."
