After school programs:

Championship Team

If a player chooses this competitive pathway, he/she is looking to play high school tennis and/or compete in local & regional tournaments. OSSA offers players top coaching with a lot of point play and live ball situations in the clinics.

Players are expected to compete in live ball drills and have solid experience in point play and competitive matches at the Junior Team Tennis, middle school or high school levels, and/or have tournament experience in USTA/MAS.

Most practices will be live ball in order to accelerate improvement and players are encouraged to take private lessons to improve technical aspects of their games.

The goal for the Championship Team is to have players aim for the following milestones:

  • Mid-Atlantic Sectional Ranking in Top 150
  • Players who continue to grow toward competing in L4 Championship level USTA/MAS tournaments
  • Players must compete in L5-L6 level tournaments
  • Commitment to training schedule (i.e. 3+ days of training per week)
  • Commitment to the OSSA program in the past year
  • Play in Singles lineup on High School Teams

The OSSA National Coaches reserve the right to add/subtract any players to/from the Championship Team at any point during the year.

Developmental Team & National Team

Developmental Team

Welcome to our NextGen training program!

To help determine the right competitive pathway for junior players, OSSA created the Developmental Team which is a 12U program that consists of hand-selected players by our coaches.

The purpose behind the Developmental Team is to give players an opportunity to improve before deciding which path to take going into Middle School-- either high level junior tournaments and/or participate on high school teams.

Official tryouts are used for selection and each player MUST be selected into this program.

Previous participation on the Developmental Team does not guarantee future placement of any kind to any invite-only groups.

National Team

Developmental Team

The OSSA National Team is an Invite-Only group that the OSSA National Coaches select based on a number of criteria. Select criteria includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Top 200 USTA National ranking and/or Top 25 Mid-Atlantic Sectional ranking
  • L3 or higher level National Tournament participation in the previous 12 months
  • Commitment to training schedule (i.e. 5-6 days of training per week)
  • Commitment to the OSSA program in the past year
  • Full Time Online Program exemption

The OSSA National Coaches reserve the right to add or subtract any players to/from the National Team at any point during the year.

Make-Up Policy

Semester I, Semester II and Semester III

OSSA's make-up policy allows a player to make up a class whenever the appropriate class is offered during that Semester. There are approximately 3 months each Semester to make up these classes and players are encouraged to complete all makeups during the current Semester (Semester I, II or III) of the Academic Year. Please try not to carry over makeup classes into the next Semester or Summer Camp.

For the Summer Camp, OSSA allows make-ups to be done throughout the summer months. No make-ups will be allowed to be carried over into the next Academic Year.
