Matt joins OSSA after being a part of the Coppermine Racquet and Fitness clubs family and Director of Junior Development at the Tennis Institute. A registered USPTA teaching pro and Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA) member, Matt brings a wealth of experience as a former Division I tennis player, junior coach and college coach. Matt was formerly ranked #1 in the United States Mens 30s, multiple Silver and Bronze Ball winner and was a member of Team USA in the prestigious Italia Cup in 2015. Matt played college tennis at UMBC under legendary coach Keith Puryear and has been on college coaching staffs at Goucher and, most recently, at the Naval Academy in Annapolis.
Matt's greatest achievement, however, occurred off the court when he married Coach Dasha Panova! And she would agree.
Coach Matt spent the Summer of 2022 traveling with the National Team at National Clay Courts (Orlando, FL) and National Hard Courts (Rome, GA), and helped USTA #8 Akshay Mirmira win the Gold Ball at B12s USTA National Clay Courts.
"Having Coach Matt join the staff is a tremendous boost for OSSA and it really continues our tradition of being a family. When working with junior players, it's important for the environment around them to be a positive influence and Matt is a tremendous role model for these kids. His tennis background is stellar but, more importantly, he's an outstanding human and he will become a force in High Performance coaching in the Mid-Atlantic and nationally in the years to come. We are lucky to have him at OSSA!"
